Description

This sweet and spunky charm is part of ShanOre's Little Miss collection. A sterling silver Celtic Trinity knot, accented with green enamel and polkadotted in white, dangles from a young lady's bracelet in celebration of her Irish background. A small diamond-like gem at the pinnacle of the knot makes her feel even more grown up.

The Origin of the Celtic Knot
The Celtic knot, also called the mystic knot, began appearing in artwork after 450 A.D. Historians can find no definitive answer to the original purpose of this three-cornered shape, or Triquetra. Some claim that the Celts regarded the interconnected loops as representative of the moons three lunar phases, all within the singular identity of The Great Mother, a moon goddess. Others prefer to view the design as a symbol for the Christian Holy Trinity. A variation on the knot includes a circle around the Triquetra, which usually suggests holistic spirituality.

The Sprouts of Ireland
A girl who has learned of her familys Irish roots might ask her mother for this charm to feel included in the brood. She likes the intricate crossovers of the green ropes that resemble Irelands fields and hills, and may try to foil the craftsmens attempts at creating a perfect Celtic knot by identifying a beginning or ending in its pattern. She will have no such luck, of course, but will delight in tracing her fingers over the loops in her earnest endeavor. The white dots are tiny signs of her innocence. The imitation diamond, a touch of sophistication, stands for the woman she will become. She knows that her relatives in Ireland smile at the thought of the newest generations carrying a small piece of their nation with them, wherever they go.
