Legend has it that the thistle was adopted as the symbol of Scotland when an approaching Viking who had stepped on a thistle, cried out in agony. This alerted the sleeping Scottish warriors who duly defeated the invaders. This handcrafted decoupage bauble is inspired by the rich culture of Scotland. Decoupage is the Victorian craft of applying illustrated paper to a surface and covering with many layers of varnish to achieve a completely smooth finish.
